July 9, 2019: Our paper (together with Prof. Zhenyu Wang), "Broadband cloak for water waves", was accepted for publication on Phys. Rev. Lett .

July 2, 2019: Our paper (together with Yadong and Prof. Gao), "Mechanism behind angle-asymmetric diffraction in phase-gradient metasurfaces", was accepted for publication on Phys. Rev. Applied.

May 24, 2019: Our paper (together with Yadong, Prof. Chan and Prof. Cummer), "Reversal of transmission and reflection based on acoustic metagratings with integer parity design", was published online on Nature Communications.

Mar 29, 2019: Our paper (together with Profs Hui Liu and Shining Zhu's group), "Conformal singularities and topological defects from inverse transformation optics", was published on Physical Review Applied. In this article, we proposed the "inverse transformation optics", and found that a conformal singularity of a refractive-index profile, with either zero or infinity resulting from a power mapping w=z^a, is equivalent to a topological defect with positive charge or negative charge. We fabricated a device with such a topological defect with positive charge in experiments and its related light-bending functionality with laser beams.

Jan 22, 2019: Our paper, "Maxwell's fish-eye lenses under Schwartz-Christoffel mappings", was published on Physical Review A. In this paper, we designed Maxwell's fish-eye lens in a square shape from a conformal mapping and constructed it into a waveguide, which is of a finite width while having the same imaging properties as the ideal infinite waveguide—the Mikaelian lens.

Jan 18, 2019: Prof. Chen was selected into "the 2018 list of Most Cited Chinese Researchers" by Elsevier.

Jan 10, 2019: Our paper, "Illusion elastics in a fluid background", was published on Physical Review Applied. In this article, by using transformation acoustics based on Fabry-P'{e}rot (FP) resonances, we obtain an illusion such that an arbitrary solid object sounds to be like another solid object in a fluid background.

Dec 4, 2018: Our paper, "Universal multimode waveguide crossing based on transformation optics", collaboration work with Prof. Dingshan Gao from Huazhong University of Science and Technology, was published on Optica. In this article, we demonstrate for the first time a universal multimode waveguide star crossing based on transformation optics, which can handle in principle any number of waveguide modes and any number of crossing channels as well.

Nov 17, 2018: Our paper, "Universal multimode waveguide crossing based on transformation optics", collaboration work with Prof. Dingshan Gao from Huazhong University of Science and Technology, was accepted for publication on Optica.

Nov 1, 2018: Our paper (together with Prof Steven Cummer's group), "Acoustic Imaging with Metamaterial Luneburg Lenses", was published online on Scientific Reports.

Sep 28, 2018: Our work on "Chemical bonds and edge states in a metamolecular crystal" was published on Phys. Rev. B.

Sep 17, 2018: Our PRL work on "Concentrators for Water Waves", was highlighted by Nature: "Water waves grow tall with help from a trick of light".

Sep 7, 2018: Our paper, "Concentrators for Water Waves", collaboration work with Prof. Zhenyu Wang from Zhejiang University, was published on Physical Review Letters, selected as Editors' Suggestion, and Featured in Physics . In this letter, we design and experimentally demonstrate two annular devices for concentrating waves, which employ gradient depth profiles based on Fabry-Pérot resonances. We expect potential applications in coastline ocean engineering.

June 19, 2018: Prof. Chen was interviewed by ScienceNet (中国科学报-科学网) on transformation optics and related topics.

May 10, 2018: Our work on "Perfect invisibility concentrator with simplified material parameters" was published on Front. Phys., where we analytically present a two-dimensional perfect concentrator. This work is on the cover story and highlighted by the journal (written by Dr. Philip Ball).

Feb 15, 2018: Our work on "Perfect Undetectable Acoustic Device from Fabry-Pérot Resonances" was published on Physical Review Applied, where we analytically present a three-dimensional perfect undetectable acoustic device from Fabry-Pérot resonances.

Jan 19, 2018: Prof. Chen was selected into "the 2017 list of Most Cited Chinese Researchers" by Elsevier.

July 19, 2017: Our paper, "Self-focusing and Talbot effect in conformal transformation optics", collaboration work with Profs. Hui Liu and Shining Zhu from Nanjing University, was published on Physical Review Letters and selected as Editors' Suggestion. In this letter, we realize a device of conformal transformation optics and demonstrate its self-focusing property for geometry optics and Talbot effect for wave optics.

Feb 24, 2017: Our paper, "Electromagnetic wave propagations in conjugate metamaterials", was published online on Opt. Express, where we find several interesting properties of conjugate MMs and show a new freedom (loss and gain) in the parameter space (now in three dimensions).

Jan 30, 2017: Our paper, "Stable lossless polaritons on non-Hermitian optical interfaces", was published online on Phys. Rev. B (Rapid Communication), where we find that an optical interface with proper loss and gain, i.e. non-Hermitian optical interface, can support lossless and stable surface polaritons, with metal/dielectric interface as a special case.

Oct 31, 2014: Our paper, "Logarithm conformal mapping brings the cloaking effect", was published online in Scientific Reports. In this paper, we propose a more feasible conformal cloak.

Sep 19, 2014: Our Paper, "Additional modes in a waveguide system of zero-index-metamaterials with defects", was published online in Scientific Reports. In this paper, we correct a common perception in zero-index-metamaterials.
